Notice was served on NASCAR tonight.
Dale Earnhardt Jr, the crown prince of NASCAR has ascended to the throne. In the 2008 Budweiser Shootout Dale Jr led 47 laps, the most ever, as he outlasted Tony Stewart with a little help from his friends.
With three lap left, when they restarted for the last time, Dale Earnhardt Jr passed Tony Stewart and then with drafting help from the 2006, 2007 champion, Jimmie Johnson he held Smoke off for the victory.
Tonight was not worth points but it was worth it’s weight in gold for Earnhardt fans. What many feared would be a slow start for Dale Jr, as he learned the ways of a new team, became a dream come true.
If this race is any indication, this season will be even worse for Teresa Earnhardt than last as she watches Dale Earnhardt Jr proves he has more in common with his father than just a name.
The Intimidator has been gone from us for seven long years but there is not an Earnhardt fan in The Nation tonight who doesn’t believe he has that big grin across his face tonight.
Long live the new King of NASCAR!
